Scam email is growing increasingly difficult to spot nowadays. Gone are the days when obvious scam or phishing emails stood out like the proverbial sore thumb in your inbox. Advances in technology have meant that scam emails are more sophisticated, better formatted and better created.
Many inexperienced internet users will often click on a scam email without realising the potential harm it can do, even just clicking on some of these emails can be problematic as it is not necessary to accept or download anything in many cases.
Web and email security experts recommend installing an effective email filter and web filter and being careful what you open.
The Office of Fair Trading stated that email is the most prevalent method of scamming people and over 70% of email users have received at least one scam email in the past 12 months.
