Disaster Recovery

The London Chamber of Commerce reports that 40% of SMEs do not have a disaster recovery plan in place. Based on empirical evidence, the report predicts that of those without a continuity plan, in the event of a disaster:

  • 43% will never re-open
  • 80% fail within 13 months
  • 53% of claimants don’t recoup losses incurred by a disaster

There is no one size fits all approach to Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity Planning, and Solsoft consultants work with business heads to understand tolerances including, Recovery Time Objectives, and Recovery Point Objectives, and create a technical response which balances investment with business risk.

A Solsoft DR plan is likely to include
Preventive measures – proactive maintenance, regular testing, checking backups, and fault tolerance
Detective measures – remote monitoring and tolerance reports
Corrective measures – High Availability, Cloud based solutions, and voice over IP
